Speaker: Beth Grissom
Pastor Beth Grissom is the Women’s Ministries and Prayer Ministries Director for the Carolina Conference. She is a pastor, speaker, writer, and Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths® Coach who is passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with Christ and learn to lead and live from their God-given strengths.
CliftonStrengths is an assessment designed to help you discover and better understand your unique strengths. Each of us was created one of a kind, and this assessment is not about putting you into a box. Instead, it highlights the distinct combination of gifts and talents that make you who you are.
If you are interested in taking the assessment prior to the event, you may do so by visiting https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths. Please be sure to access the assessment directly through Gallup, rather than another website. You may choose either the Top 5 CliftonStrengths assessment or the Full 34 Talent assessment. Both options provide valuable insight, and while the Full 34 offers more detailed information, you can always upgrade to it later if you choose.
Taking the assessment is not required for the event to be meaningful. However, you may enjoy gaining a deeper understanding of your strengths as you participate. This decision is entirely up to you.
How to Begin a Women’s Ministry Program in My Local Church
-

1. Visioning Process
Without a vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18. Ask God to give you a vision as to what He wants for you and your church.
-

2. Write a Mission Statement
A Mission Statement helps remind you of the purpose of your ministry. You can then plan activities and programs that support its purpose.
-

3. Determine Priorities
You may want to do a survey of the women in your church to find what specific programs, classes and outreaches your group wants.
-

4. Write Effective Goals
Your program will have more support and will be more successful if you set realistic goals. Determine resources needed. Evaluate your programs after they are finished.
-

5. Determine Funding for Programs
You may be fortunate to be in a church where the board will give you a liberal budget or you may have no money at all and will have to be very creative.
-

6. Advertise Your Programs
Think of every possible method of informing that you have at your disposal. You will be most effective if you can get your entire congregation involved in promoting your program.
-

7. Establish a Mentoring Program
The purpose of Women’s Ministries is to minister to the women and young women of your church and to reach out to those who are nonmembers. Make certain that every individual is made welcome and comfortable at your programs. Women’s Ministries is inclusive.
